Global Missions

Southeast Asia

W** PEOPLE
Southeast Asia has many un-reached people groups; specifically the W**, with whom we are primarily tasked to work, are less than 1% evangelized.  They are 3 times less evangelized than the minimum requirement to be considered an un-reached people group.  We know of only 16,000 believers out of 1.3 million.  Most of those believers have come to Christ in the last 10 years.  There is little access for the average W** and other hill tribe peoples to the gospel.  Biblical illiteracy among those who are believers is rampant.  Even pastors have great difficulty explaining the gospel much less explaining the doctrines of the faith.  Many of the people whom we encounter hear of Jesus for the very first time.

The ministry goal is to assist local national believers in reaching their neighboring tribes with the gospel of Jesus Christ by training them in basic Bible doctrines, evangelistic strategy, and biblical roles in the family.

THAILAND - BAPTIST STUDENT CENTER

During our trips we will also partner with the Baptist Student Center in “Conversation Corner” sharing the good news of Christ with students of all ages coming to practice their English.  Further, we will put a program together on the 2 Friday nights called Friday Night Life and present the gospel in that setting as well

THAILAND - House of Blessing Foundation
https://www.hobfthailand.org/en/
The House of Blessing Foundation (HBF) in Thailand was started under the Baptist Church Foundation by International Mission Board missionaries over 30 years ago. In recent years, the HBF is increasingly gaining the admiration and support of the Thai government because of the ministry's effectiveness in positively changing the prisoners' behaviors. As chief prison officials give cooperation and support to HBF, the ministry is able to sow seeds among the inmates in additional prisons through Bible studies, Christian morals training, language learning, and various other ways. At last count, the HBF had programs in over 60 prisons and juvenile detention centers, in addition to a halfway-house ministry.  This ministry focuses on reaching out to the prison inmates throughout Thailand through evangelistic services, prison choirs, and bible studies in the prisons and helping those who have become Christians to grow and be witnesses for Christ in prison. The House of Blessing Half Way House helps and supports newly released prisoners re-enter into society.  Volunteers will present the essentials of the Christian faith, share their own testimony of what it means to be a Christian and answer questions on what it means to be and to live as a Christian.

Thailand - Ryan and Amy Green
Ryan and Amy Green are currently living in Nakhon Ratchatsima, Thailand, working with Korat Christian Church. Their main goal currently is to be students of the Thai people, language and culture. They arrived in Thailand in November 2018 and are currently in a three year language program.

The pastor of Korat Christian Church and his wife are helping to train Ryan and Amy in Thai Christian culture as well as helping them with their language studies. In conjunction, the Green’s are assisting the church as much as they can. Helping with the worship team, visiting church members, assisting in special programs, etc. But for now, learning is the priority.

Their hope and prayer is to set up a life in Thailand and be there long term, to train Thai Christians to:
1. Be spiritual leaders in their own communities
2. Disciple their own people to follow Jesus, and
3. Plant their own churches

It is important to be guides and trainers only, not the “engine” of the church.

"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up..."
Ephesians 4:11-12

Church members in any country, but especially Thailand, can become dependent on the “professional” pastors and missionaries and miss out on the opportunity to be ministers themselves. That is the heart of Christ for his church, that they all minister to each other.

The North American Mission Board exists to work with churches, associations and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missional force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting.
We accomplish that through  Send North America, our national strategy for mobilizing churches to plant churches and mobilizing church planters and other missionaries to assist with those efforts.
